XBLW MAX485 is a half‑duplex RS485 communication transceiver supporting 3V ~ 5.5V wide supply voltage and featuring ±15 kV ESD protection. This device integrates a driver and a receiver, supporting data rates up to 10 Mbps. It is suitable for industrial control, power‑system communication, smart electricity meters, factory automation and other application scenarios.

MAX485 controls its operating modes via combined logic of the Receiver‑Enable (RE) and Driver‑Enable (DE) pins:

When DE = High and RE = High, the device enters Transmit Mode: it converts single‑ended data on the DI pin into differential signals for output onto the A / B bus lines;

When DE = Low and RE = Low, the device switches to Receive Mode: differential bus signals are converted to single‑ended signals and output from the RO pin, with built‑in input open‑circuit fail‑safe function;

When DE = Low and RE = High, the part goes into Shutdown Mode. Both driver and receiver present high‑impedance state, and power consumption drops below 1 µA for power‑saving operation. This flexible control scheme enables efficient management of data direction and system power draw.
